Preparing your files
Accepted files
Press-ready PDF is preferred. We also accept native Adobe Illustrator, InDesign (packaged with fonts and links) and Photoshop files. Office documents are not print-ready and will need to be converted, which can change how they look.
Bleed and safe area
Extend any background colour or image past the trim edge on every side (bleed), and keep text and logos away from the trim edge (safe area). The die line or template for your product shows both. Do not add crop marks inside the artboard.
Colour
Build files in CMYK. RGB and Pantone colours are converted on press and can shift. Rich black for large areas, plain 100% K for small text. Ask before relying on an exact brand colour match.
Resolution
Images should be at least 300 pixels per inch at the size they print. Web images (72 ppi) look sharp on screen and soft on paper.
Fonts and lines
Embed or outline every font. Keep lines thicker than a quarter point, and avoid tiny reversed-out type on dark backgrounds.
Die lines and templates
Place the die line on its own layer, set to overprint or spot colour, and leave it in the file. We remove it before plating. Never scale a template.
